We (Mary Ann McDonnell, PhD, RN, CNS, PMHNP, Stephanie Grant, RN, MSN, PMHNP, and Jack Lewis, PMHNP) specialize in Psychopharmacology (medication management of psychiatric disorders). We provide psychiatric evaluations and ongoing treatment. We see children and adolescents, and adults (ages 5-65). We provide services for ADHD, OCD, PTSD, Panic disorder, Generalized Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Autism, Disruptive Behavioral disorders, Grief, Trauma, Eating disorders, Separation anxiety, Postpartum depression & anxiety, PMDD, Stress disorders, Tics, Tourettes, and Physical Illness/Chronic pain.
In addition to the above services, Jack Lewis, PMHNP sees patients with substance use disorders.

Special Interests: ADHD, anxiety disorders, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, OCD, PTSD, social phobia, PTSD, pregnancy/postpartum, depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, physical illness/chronic pain.

Mary Ann McDonnell, RN, MS, CS, FPNP, is licensed as a child and adolescent clinical nurse specialist and a family psychiatric nurse practitioner and has a Ph.D. in Philosophy. She obtained her Associates of Science in Nursing Degree at Quincy College, her Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree, Masters of Science in Nursing Degree, and her Ph.D. in Philosophy at Northeastern University in Boston. She has been a professor at Northeastern University in Boston teaching advanced psychopharmacology for over 20 years. As the director of the clinical trials program in pediatric psychopharmacology research at Massachusetts General Hospital for over 10 years, Dr. McDonnell was a co-investigator of 81 research studies of psychiatric disorders and medications. She continues to conduct psychiatric research studies in her private practice, South Shore Psychiatric Services in Hingham, MA. Dr. McDonnell has been a professor of psychopharmacology in the graduate nursing program at Northeastern University for many years and continues to train and mentor psychiatric nurse practitioners in her practice. In her previous role as the founder and CEO of STEP UP for BP Kids, a nonprofit organization, Dr. McDonnell was able to provide education, training, and support for families of children and adolescents in addition to launching a summer camp for children and adolescents with bipolar disorder.

She is the author of a book entitled “Is Your Child Bipolar” and “Positive Parenting for Bipolar Kids” and was an expert consultant for a series of 30 books on child and adolescent psychopathology. She has 10 scientific publications in the area of psychopharmacology in children, adolescents, and adults and is a sought after public speaker for conferences and educational seminars across the country. Dr. McDonnell is best known for her research and clinical work with children, adolescents and adults with ADHD, Anxiety and Mood Disorders. She specializes in the medication management of difficult to treat children and adolescents and is passionate about her work with youth and adults in the community.

Stephanie Grant, RN, BSN, MSN, PMHNP is a family psychiatric nurse practitioner. Stephanie received her Bachelor of Science from Mount Ida College in 2016 and began working as a Mental Health Specialist at McLean Hospital in Belmont MA. She continued her professional development through McLean Hospital, received her BSN and MSN from Northeastern University. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescent and adults with psychiatric diagnoses.

Jack Lewis, RN, BSN, MSN is a family psychiatric nurse practitioner. Jack earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ithaca College in New York, and
both his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and his Master of Science in Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nursing from Northeastern University. Jack has many years of experience working as a psychiatric nurse in inpatient psychiatry at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He has also worked in crisis evaluation at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA, and in addiction treatment settings at Northeast Addiction Treatment Center in Quincy, MA.
