About My Practice
Therapy for New Beginnings
Specialized Support and Psychotherapy for distress related to pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, and loss. I’m Danielle Kenney, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker for over 25 years. Throughout that time I have helped countless parents navigate stressful moments in their lives with warmth, compassion, and a little humor. I’m devoted to helping women overcome challenges during their transition to motherhood, one step at a time. Before starting my private practice, I was a senior psychotherapist at The Leggett Group Therapy, where I specialized in perinatal mental health. Prior to that, I worked in the NICU at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as a NICU Family Support Specialist, which was deeply meaningful and personal, as I am the mother of a preemie myself. In addition to private practice, I currently run the New Parent Group at BI Deaconess-Milton. I have advanced training in assessing, diagnosing and treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders through both The Postpartum Stress Center and Postpartum Support International. I am uniquely qualified in treating women who have experienced traumatic birth or are NICU moms. I am trained and certified in Mindful Motherhood, a mindfulness-oriented stress reduction course. I have extensive professional and personal experience navigating the NICU experience. I know when your baby is in the NICU, it is hard to find time to take care of yourself. For parents who live in the greater Boston/South Shore area, I will make a home visit, or NICU visit, for your intake appointment. Then we can do Telehealth sessions, if you wish. It is so important to take time to breathe, process, and get support for yourself during this tender time. I can help you heal from this traumatic beginning so you can focus on parenting and feeling well again.
Services
I provide individual therapy and couples therapy for clients facing distress around perinatal issues including postpartum depression and anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and relationship strain. I also treat those struggling with infertility, pregnancy and infant loss, NICU parenting, and traumatic birth. I also provide training in mindfulness oriented stress reduction for expectant and new mothers, Mindful Motherhood.
