Charisma Henderson LMHC, ATR
I work with parents-to-be and new parents who are looking for extra support around the transition into parenthood or are suffering from birth trauma and/or perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADS – this includes Postpartum Depression, Postpartum Anxiety, and Postpartum OCD). PMADS can impact both partners, even in situations of surrogacy or adoption. Your family does not have to suffer, treatment works! I work with established parents who are looking for additional support around major transitions, personal issues parenting has triggered, and behavioral issues. And I work with birth workers (doctors, midwives, nurses, doulas, lactation consultants) to process vicarious birth trauma.
In addition I do children’s therapy including issues with transitions, adjustments, negative life events, and behavioral concerns.
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR). I only utilize art if there is an interest. I work with my clients on a variety of issues including communication, boundary setting, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, acceptance, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, behavior modification, and increasing your awesomeness factor.
Therapeutic Style:<div class="statementPara">I will meet you exactly where you are on your journey and we will work together from there. I take a strengths based approach, finding all the things you are good at and utilizing them to help you in your challenge areas. I respect that change can be hard & challenging. I approach my work with sensitivity, compassion, and when appropriate, a sense of humor.</div>
